Aging Well: General Websites
AARP. Major over resource for adults age 50+.
Administration for Community Living. Major information source for older adults,
adults with disabilities, ​consumer choice, consumer rights, and a multitude of related topics.
Next Avenue. Public-media (PBS) first and only national service for America’s 50+ population.
National Council on Aging. Major source for resources related to economic security,  healthcare, aging policy, up-to-date news, and resources for older adults, family caregivers, professionals, and advocates.
The New Old Age. From 2008-2015, this New York Times blog explored aging and caregiving  from a variety of perspectives. Though no longer updated, the archive remains along with links to related New York Times articles.
 
Emotional Wellness
Healthy Aging - Emotional and Mental Vitality. Learn about the connection between emotional, mental, and physical energies (WebMD).
HelpGuide. A well-respected not-for-profit guide to mental health and well-being across the lifespan.
Mental Health America. Tools from the nation’s leading community-based non-profit dedicated to helping all Americans achieve wellness by living mentally healthier lives. Includes link to local affiliates.
The Golden Years of Emotion. Article discusses the trend toward more positive emotions in older adults (Association for Psychological Science).
 
Environmental Wellness
AARP Home Fit.  Website provides design and safety strategies in guidebook, brochure, and video formats.  All tools are designed to   help us adapt to changes in vision, hearing, strength, mobility, balance, and flexibility.  
Aging-in-Place Technology Watch. Objective research, analysis, and trends related to aging-in-place and technology. (Laurie M. Orlov, website founder, is a tech industry veteran, writer, speaker, and elder care advocate.) 
Dementia-Friendly America.  Learn about the national effort to create dementia-friendly communities designed to support people with dementia and the family members and friends who care for them.
HomeMods. Links to multiple home modification resources including courses, resources, and provider directory.
Livable Communities. Learn more about the movement to make communities more livable,  e.g., accessible, safe, etc. for all ages.

Financial Protection for Older Americans. Smart tips for handling your money from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the FDIC. Includes downloadable Resource Guide.
Financial Fitness for the Rest of Your Life. Financial guide from the New Jersey Coalition for Financial Education covers Social Security, Health and Long-Term Care Insurance, Later-Life Investment Decisions, Retirement "Paychecks," and Wills and Estate Planning.
Money Managment.   National Council on Aging website that helps older adults with money managment.  Includes guidance related to savings, economic security strategies, financial education, extra income ideas, and the use of prepaid cards.

Brain Facts. Website contains fascinating facts about our brains, the "most complex biological structure in the known universe." A portion of the Lifespan section pays special attention to the brains of the youth and older adults (Society for Neuroscience). 
Cognition and the Aging Brain. Discusses normal brain changes that occur with aging, possible concerns, and offers strategies for maintaining a healthy brain (Medscape.  Free login giving you access to multiple articles required.)  
Intellectual Wellness. Article discusses positive aspects of aging, danger of believing in negative myths, and tips for enhancing brain fitness (University of Cincinnati).  
Participating in Activities You Enjoy – More than Just Fun and Games. Learn how the enjoyment of favorite activities can enhance your cognitive health (National Institute on Aging).
 
Nutritional Wellness
Food for the Brain. Focuses on the relationship between nutrition and brain health (from Food for the Brain Foundation).  
Nutrition and Aging. Looks at the relationship between aging and nutrition and offers strategies for managing changes (Colorado State University Extension).  
Nutrition for Healthy Aging. Article focuses on nutritional strategies for preventing/modifying osteoporosis/osteopenia and heart disease. (National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability)
Healthy Eating.  Webpage focuses on up-to-date news and articles related to health eating for older adults.  (National Institute on Aging)
 
Occupational/Retirement Wellness
Career One-Stop. Good news and job tips for older workers. Explore Careers, find training, research opportunities, find local help, and access the career toolkit (U. S. Department of Labor).
Center for Retirement Research. The nation’s leading center on retirement studies; topics include Social Security, state and local pensions, health/long-term care, financing retirement, and older workers.
Coping with Retirement Stress. Article discusses possible concerns and benefits of retirement (British Columbia Institute of Technology).
How to Avoid Living Unhappily Ever After in Retirement. Tips for "surviving" retirement as a couple (Next Avenue, a PBS service).
Retirement Planner. 
Social Security Administration planner includes savings estimator, a variety of publications and reports, and information about Social Security resources, Medicare eligibility, and pension protection.

Dental Care for Seniors. Website covers possible oral health issues, what to expect at the dental visit, and financial assistance for dental care (WebMD).
Harvard Health. The Harvard Health website focuses on health across the lifespan with special attention paid to issues relevant to older adults.
Health in Aging. Overseen by geriatricians (medical professionals who specialize in aging), this  resource presents expert, up-to-date information about how to stay healthy and active as we age, as well as what to do if health problems arise in later life (Foundation of the American Geriatrics Society).
Mouth Healthy: Adults over 60. American Dental Association website offers internal links to information on healthy habits, possible concerns, and nutrition.
National Institute on Aging (NIA). Part of the National Institute of Health, the NIA is the government leader in aging research. Website includes health topics, publications, and research information. Select Public, Research, or Professional track.
NIH Senior Health. Health and wellness website from the National Institutes of Health.
 
Protectoral (Safety) Wellness
Adult Fire and Injury Prevention. Website discusses fire safety issues of special concern to older adults. Safety prevention, emergency strategies, and additional resources are presented (Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner).
Fall Prevention Center of Excellence. Learn more about ways to protect yourself from falls, including simple modifications that you can make to your home (California Fall Prevention Consortium).
Fire Safety for People with Disabilities. Website includes downloadable Emergency Evacuation Planning Guide and educational materials for consumers and public educators (National Fire Protection Association).
Home Safety for People with Disabilities. Site includes detailed suggestions and supporting photos for bathrooms, kitchens, and stairs/ramps (Amputee Coalition of America).
Red Cross First Aid App. Download the app for easily accessible first aid guide on your phone. 
 
Social Wellness
